A cross-country vehicle like the new G 55 AMG lets you achieve a new dimension in driving, with an added sense of adventure. Not only does it offer more ground clearance than your usual car, but it also gives you the feeling of unlimited personal freedom, both off the road and on.

The road to the top can get pretty rocky, so it's good to have the right means of transport - one that is powerful, tough and has what it takes to surmount obstacles with ease. Which is why we created a car with a character as individual as your own: the new G 55 AMG.

It is powered by the AMG 5.5-litre V8 supercharged engine, with an output of 350 kW (476 hp) and an impressive 700-Nm torque. This large-displacement powerplant has the unlimited power you need when driving off-road but delivers a silky smooth ride on the road and is surprisingly spontaneous too. This is in part due to the superior design standards applied when developing and assembling the engine, and the use of individually selected, high-strength cast pistons made from an aluminium alloy and special oil injection nozzles for optimum cooling.

To do justice to the G 55 AMG's high power reserves, the chassis has also been equipped to AMG specifications, with, for example, reinforced shock absorbers. And the newly developed 18-inch AMG light-alloy wheels, with size 285/55 R 18 tyres, ensure optimum traction on road or off.

The exterior of the new G 55 AMG unmistakably hints at its inner strengths, from the wheel arch flaring in vehicle colour and the AMG exhaust gas system with side-mounted twin tailpipes to the silver-painted radiator grille and the brushed aluminium trim strips.

As you would expect of an AMG, the interior of the G 55 AMG, for all its functionality, is a picture of exclusivity and elegance. The AMG instrument cluster and the selector lever of the 5-speed automatic transmission, with G 55 lettering, are a constant reminder that your G-Class is ready to deliver extraordinary performance at all times. The wood trim and the leather appointments come from the designo range: poplar wood and leather in designo anthracite or, if you prefer, in a choice of other designo colours.
